Hotel Hofgut Sternen | Ravennaschlucht

This was my second overnight stay at Hofgut Sternen, and I want to thank the whole team for their support and flexibility when I needed an upgraded room. The breakfast was excellent, and the bed and pillows were very good too. My one concern is the quality of the food served on the outside terrace at lunchtime. It would be a shame if that didn’t get fixed. Everything else deserves 5 stars 🌟

We booked and paid for a room two months ahead, intending to stay February 14-19, but mistakenly entered January on the hotel website. That was our mistake. What disappointed me was how the hotel dealt with it when we arrived. They had our contact details, yet never called or emailed when we didn’t show up. They said they had too many bookings and it was hard to contact everyone, which I found hard to believe given the hotel’s size. There were rooms available for the February dates, and we still wanted to stay, but the hotel wouldn’t offer even a small discount. I understand a discount wasn’t guaranteed, and we had paid the full price in advance without one anyway. In the end, we stayed at another hotel nearby so we could enjoy our holiday week. The response felt opportunistic and short on hospitality, as if a one-time profit mattered more than the hotel’s reputation. I’d advise anyone looking to be treated like a person rather than a transaction to look elsewhere. P.S. Thank you for taking the time to reply, but nothing about our issue has been resolved. The damage remains, and I’m even more disappointed.

We stayed in the low season and found the hotel nice, with good service and a fantastic breakfast. The parking area was a bit muddy. Check-in and check-out were smooth, dogs were allowed at a reasonable price, and there are nice walking routes right from the hotel.

The location, rooms, and staff are brilliant, and the Weihnachtsmärkte feel magical here. I’ve brought friends and family to visit when they come, but this was the first time we stayed overnight. It’s VERY dog friendly, and the rooms in the main inn are large and gorgeous, with porches. Highly recommended for a short break with hiking and relaxing to fill the day.
