Gut Royum is well placed for hiking and cycling around the Schlei and Baltic Sea, and Schleswig is nearby. We stayed in a spacious, clean, well-equipped apartment in a beautifully restored farm, with a very welcoming feel. The beds, duvets, and cushions were lovely, the bathrooms roomy, and the garden sauna felt luxurious. Warmly recommended.

We spent a lovely two-night weekend at this family-run hotel and would happily recommend it. The owners were really kind, and all three buildings have been beautifully renovated. It’s a great spot for a rural break surrounded by nature. We borrowed their bikes for a full day exploring the villages and lake. Breakfast was very good, and there’s a fridge in the room too.

The outdoor area was the highlight for us, with lots of animals, room to relax, and toys for the kids. It’s a great place to stay with children or just unwind for a few days. The hosts were welcoming and the room was great. Highly recommended.

We weren't sure what other facilities were available. We saw bicycles, but no one explained whether they were for private use or guests, and we didn't ask because we wanted to avoid another bitter response. Our welcome had already felt unfriendly. We arrived around 11:00am in heavy rain, and an upset young woman immediately told me check-in wasn't until 4:00pm. Then she let me check in early as a favor. The next day my wife asked to use the washing machine and was told yes. When she started the wash, someone said, “Ah ... but you're supposed to use your own detergent.” Who travels with detergent when they're staying somewhere, not camping? Breakfast was basic. I understand the Covid-19 situation, but one single-serve chocolate and two portions of marmalade for two people didn't seem like much.

A lovely, peaceful spot in the countryside. If you love the country, you should stay here. Too bad I only had one night. I’ll definitely visit again.
