The food in the restaurant was excellent, and breakfast was a generous continental spread. We spent a week here, with a beautiful view of the Mosel from our room. In all my 50 years of travelling, I’ve never stayed in a room this clean. The en suite was immaculate, and the bed was comfortable and firm. It’s a family-run guesthouse with very friendly staff who are happy to help with anything. The area is great for cycling, with a bus stop about 150 yards away and a boat stop a little farther down for river trips.

Bruttig-Fankel is a quiet little village that hasn’t been overrun with tourists, yet Cochem is only about a 10-minute drive away if you want a larger tourist stop. We stayed two nights in June 2013 and had a wonderful time. Our room at the inn looked out over the Mosel and was lovely, and the meals at the restaurant were excellent. The owners are gracious, and their wine is very good. We’ll be back in the area in September and plan to buy some wine to take along on the rest of our fall trip, though we won’t be staying in the Mosel Valley this time. I’d definitely stay here again.
