Ruhwarder Mühle

We booked a terrace room through Booking.com at short notice for a weekend. The house is surrounded by greenery, with plenty of parking and e-bike storage right outside. There are a few seating spots and a beach chair by the entrance. We got a friendly, helpful welcome, and the room was bigger than Booking.com had led us to expect. It was spotless, with a modern bathroom and walk-in shower, a comfortable bed, TV, sofa, armchair, table, and light, cheerful colors. There was also a kettle for tea or coffee and a safe in the wardrobe. From the terrace seating, we could look out over the lovely garden. Cycling maps were in the room, and breakfast was very good. We had a nice chat with the owner, who clearly does a lot to make guests comfortable, including offering a walker for people with mobility issues. She told us that Booking.com lists only a small portion of the rooms, so we could contact her directly to ask about availability. She runs Ruhwarder Mühle with real passion and takes wonderful care of her guests. If you're after peace and quiet or enjoy cycling, this is a great place. We had a fantastic, relaxing weekend.

The setting is nice and quiet, and the room was clean. Breakfast was okay. But they don't take card payments, which makes this a poor fit for business travelers or anyone wanting to pay by credit card. I even had to go back to the bank because they wouldn't let me put the overnight stay on the company account.

The apartment lived up to what we expected, and the evening meal in the adjoining kitchen was delicious, with attentive service. We also thought breakfast had everything we could want. Butjadingen is a good place to spend a few quiet, relaxing days, and the Ruhwarder Mühle team helped us feel at ease. If you're looking for a lively celebration, this isn't the place. We highly recommend staying here.

We've been going to Tossens for seven years and found this welcoming, family-run restaurant last year. Since then we've loved eating at the "Dreimädelhaus" because we feel so comfortable there. Most of the food is freshly made and tastes fantastic. I mentioned that the onions in my fried potatoes were blackened, and they apologized sincerely and immediately offered to replace it. That's how guests should be treated, though sadly it doesn't happen everywhere anymore. The homemade cocktails are delicious too. We'd definitely recommend it and will be back next year.
