Hotel Sporcher Nest

We were here for breakfast with the newlyweds and their family. Even with a huge crowd, they tried hard to look after everyone. The food was nice, and everything was clean, with a modern style and pleasant service. Great hotel!

We came to Cadolzburg to visit family, and staying here made the trip even easier than staying with them. Hummel and his team made everything a joy, and we'll come back here every time we visit. The property is beautiful, renovated very well, and has all the modern conveniences. Staff were flexible, supportive, and easy to deal with. Breakfast was delightful every morning.

The breakfast was good quality, though there wasn't much choice. The rooms were nice and clean.

Peter was attentive and helpful, and it's clear he's passionate about his Gasthof. We were welcomed by English-speaking Peter Hummel at Sporcher-Nest, a traditional old Fachwerk building that's been extensively restored and modernised inside. My first impression was that it was beautiful. Mask-wearing is optional. After being invited into reception, we handed over details like our passport, etc. I think that's a Bavarian thing. Breakfast is pre-ordered the day before to keep food waste down, so there's no big buffet. Food is brought to the table, with a cooked egg option, tea and coffee, juices, and so on. We didn't mind at all and appreciated their ethos. In Dad's Army style, Peter reminded us that there's a war on! Breakfast was great, with hot drinks served once we sat down and eggs cooked fresh. Our room was a large double. There was an entrance area for bags and coats, with the toilet, shower, and sink off it, plus a large drawer for toiletries. In the main room were the bed and bedside touch lamps and table. The three large windows kept out the traffic noise very well when closed. The room stayed lovely and cool because it's in the shadow of another building and a 250-year old tree. The TV came with black sticky tape to cover its standby light. We've used that trick for years, so it was much appreciated. The room guide's TV channel list was useful too. On the landing there's an honesty fridge with cold drinks, including beer, and a computer and printer anyone can use. Free Wi-Fi is available for up to three devices. We had trouble connecting in the room, though it worked well elsewhere. Parking is free. We were given a parking card to put in the car window, and the car park is opposite the hotel, just a very short walk away. Definitely worth staying here again.
