We were the only guests that night since it was so out of season, but the staff made us feel very welcome. They suggested a great local restaurant for dinner, then put together a personal breakfast buffet for us. It was delicious, and there was enough food for twice as many people. A lovely stay in beautiful surroundings.

A really nice, laid-back hotel.

We had such a peaceful stay, and the lake access was a real treat. There’s a private jetty and ladder for swimming, and you can rent SUPs too. The grounds are huge and beautifully kept, with a vineyard, fruit trees, a pond, hedges, and plenty of quiet places to sit. There are loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas, a smoking area, outdoor chess, boules, and a 9-lane pit pat course, which we enjoyed playing. Mrs. Spiller runs the place with real professionalism and so much warmth. She takes care of requests, and we felt genuinely welcome. The rooms are modern, clean, and spacious, with lots of storage. The bathroom had a hairdryer, makeup mirror, soap, shower gel, and shampoo. Breakfast was filling and the service was attentive. There were scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, warm sausages and meatballs, plus a good range of cold cuts and cheeses, salmon, fresh fruit, muesli, and other things. The fresh cold orange juice was delicious too. We’ll definitely be back to this lovely oasis.

We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. Anna gave us the information we needed, showed us to our room, and explained things along the way. Our comfortable double room, number 102, was on the ground floor with a view of the garden and Lake Cambs. Ms. Spiller also makes a point of speaking with guests each day, taking feedback, handling requests like the mattress topper for my wife, and offering ideas for the day. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Anna. The setting is quiet and surrounded by nature, with direct access to Lake Cambs. The hotel is near Schwerin, about 12 km from the city center, so it’s peaceful while still close to attractions and a larger city. There’s plenty to do around the spacious, well-kept grounds, and parking is available at or near the hotel, though hotel parking spaces aren’t free. Bicycle storage and rentals are available as well. The thatched two-story building and its grounds are lovely, with plenty of calm spots to relax. Some areas of the building show wear, including window frames and a few seats, but that didn’t spoil the pleasant atmosphere. The hotel changed hands at the beginning of the year. Ms. Spiller has fulfilled a dream by buying it, and with her years of professional experience and proactive approach, I think she’ll make sure guests have what they need. If you’re after a quiet nature stay with leisure options and city access, this could be a great fit.
