Clean place, and the location is good.
I booked the penthouse for a week, and the access code made check-in easy every time. But it's on the fifth floor with no elevator, and the cleanliness was poor: lots of dust and hair in the bed. Parts of the walls have big holes and stains, and there are silverfish everywhere. The busy street is noisy at night, with emergency vehicles waking you up, and larger vehicles make the floor shake. I won't book this apartment again.
The apartments are clean and well equipped, and getting in was easy at first. I entered through the garage and open back door, then left my jacket in the room and went for coffee at the shopping center next door. When I came back around 4 p.m., several people were stuck outside. No codes worked, the back door was locked, and people were trying to sort it out by phone and WhatsApp. Someone with serious mobility problems had to be helped into a car hundreds of meters away. It was 5°C or colder, and I was freezing. We got more codes over the phone, but none worked. After an hour and a half, we were told someone was coming and would take at least another 30 minutes. A friendly young woman arrived an hour later, but she had no key, just more codes. Eventually the device finally unlocked the door. We wedged it open with rags so it wouldn't close again. There was even a note inside saying the opener was broken and the door should be left open 😂. I hadn't seen it because I'd left through the garage. So this issue had been known for a while. The whole thing affected our stay badly, and I caught a nasty cold. So far, nobody has offered a price reduction as compensation.
I knew Limehome in Zwickau and liked the concept, so I booked the Hartmannstrasse place in Chemnitz expecting something similar. That didn't quite work out. The penthouse has no elevator, which means 80 steps up or down every time, and the Limehome website doesn't mention it. There are silverfish in the apartment despite the very dry heating air, and cutlery from the previous guest was still in the dishwasher. The living room couch is badly worn and uncomfortable to sit or lie on. The kitchen has a two-burner induction hob, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, and microwave, with capsules and tea bags supplied.
Online check-in went perfectly, and for an affordable nightly price you get a properly equipped apartment with a TV and sofa. The balcony is cozy too, though the view is pretty dull. Some furniture was a little worn, and the cleaning could be better, but neither bothered me too much.
