Pension Romantika

Room #1, the three-bedroom room, was wonderful. The beds were so comfortable that we slept really well, and the bathroom was spacious with lovely blue tiles. Florian, the proprietor, speaks perfect English and knows the area well. He gave us tips for restaurants and sightseeing. The kitchen has a fridge and stovetop, but no pots, pans, plates, or other cookware, so bring those if you plan to cook. Parking was a short walk away, on one of the narrow streets behind the building. Pension Romantika is right off the main street leading to the market area, so everything is walkable, yet it was quiet. The building is very old, so people looking for somewhere fancy might be disappointed. For an authentic European experience, it's perfect. We loved Cochem and plan to return and stay here again.

The owner was not friendly at all. There was a mix-up with the invoice: he gave me the wrong one, which I only discovered after we had left. Then he sent a threatening personal message and didn't apologize. If anything goes wrong, be prepared for the owner to take it very seriously, even when the mistake was his. The building is charming and not far from Cochem castle, but there aren't many options if you want to stay in the center. Breakfast was standard. In winter the room was quite cold, and the stairs were very steep. There is no elevator.

Pension Romantika is a well-run place with just four rooms, in a very convenient spot in Cochem. It's 450 years old and owned by Mr Florian, a 25-year-old entrepreneur. He takes real pride in it and puts personal service ahead of profit.

The room was fine for a short stay, though some cleaning details needed attention, like dust around the heating and in the corners. It was also unexpectedly cold even in May, probably because the old building isn't well insulated. The place is in a charming historic area. The building's traditional side is tucked away at the back, which is a shame since it's much prettier than the main entrance you see first. Acceptable for one night, but there's room to improve.
