Parkhotel Muldental

Really great.

The main drawback for me was the water: it’s chlorinated, not drinkable, and very unpleasant to use for a sauna infusion. There’s no notice about it anywhere, which is a real shame and a serious health concern. The rest of this little hotel is lovely, with apartments in a beautifully renovated old villa that once belonged to the local paper mill owner. It sits in a well-kept park near the Mulde River. The rooms are clean, nicely furnished and decorated, and have small kitchenettes that make it easy to prepare your own food. Downstairs there’s a small wellness area with a sauna and loungers.

It’s in a quiet, remote spot right by the river, and the surroundings are beautiful. The owner was very friendly and prepared breakfast for us. Our room was tastefully furnished, with a small kitchenette, and there was plenty of attention to detail throughout the hotel.

Breakfast was delicious and beautifully laid out. The hotel itself has been renovated beautifully, and the rooms are nicely furnished, though not very practical. There are too few clothes hooks, no laundry shelves, just one wardrobe, and the bathroom has no shelves or hooks either. In the apartment, the sofa, low table and armchairs were uncomfortable and awkward to use. A regular dining table with four chairs would work much better. The hotel is quite isolated from any town or village, so you’re very much on your own. Plan ahead for anything you’ll want in the evening, including food and drinks.
