The shower overflowed far enough to flood the living room, and we had spiders coming in each morning with no way to deal with them. The room was freezing, and there were barely any bathroom or kitchen supplies. We paid €810 for four nights and got no reply after emailing the only address they provided. The check-in was just as badly handled. They sent a taxi from the airport, but it left us six minutes from the place where we were meant to collect the keys, at a nearby hotel, without explaining anything. We were told to check in at 3:00 PM and given keys through an app, then left with a sheet of instructions and no one available to help when problems came up. I’ve never had a host show this much disregard for a stay. The apartment may feel luxurious to them, but it was shabby for me. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Even though it’s right in the city center, the apartment was surprisingly quiet. The cathedral and Museum Ludwig are only a few minutes away on foot, which made the location hard to beat. We found the place spotless, with a modern, tasteful interior and a kitchen that had everything we needed. Express check-in was easy too. For our long weekend in Cologne, having more room and privacy than a standard hotel room was a real plus.
