Holiday Inn – the niu, Mill Cologne Mülheim by IHG

The breakfast was tasty and the parking was good, but sleeping here was rough. We spent three nights with colleagues, and the rooms felt small with the extra bed. The pillow was too big for the soft mattress, leaving me sleeping at an angle and waking with a cracking neck. I didn’t sleep well at all. There was room to hang no more than two clothes or jackets, which is unacceptable. The toilet brush head kept falling off, too.

The room was neat and clean, and even had heated flooring. The staff were really friendly and nice. As Asian travelers, we experienced no discrimination. This was the best hotel of our whole trip in Germany, and I’d recommend it for a visit to Cologne, with public transport easy to reach.

Dennis was friendly and helpful, and the service all around was excellent. We stayed for a week, and the rooms, though small, were clean and well maintained. Parking was convenient and reasonably priced. I’d definitely come back.

We had a good location and breakfast during our two-night stay with our dog, but the extra costs were disappointing. They charged 25 euros a day for the dog, yet provided no bed or food. There were two water bowls by the entrance, both empty. At other hotels where I’ve paid an extra fee, there was at least a little ball and treat sticks. Parking was another 15 euros per day, and I think it could have been free for hotel guests.
