I paid through booking.com when I made the reservation, but the receptionist still wanted me to pay before leaving. The booking payment hadn't gone through quickly enough, so she asked me to pay on the spot. She mentioned the police, and since I don't speak German and she doesn't speak English, there was a misunderstanding. I paid in good faith, expecting a refund once the booking payment arrived, and showed her all the emails. Five months and several emails later, I've received no refund and no answer. I'm still waiting for a response, but buyer beware, I suspect a scam. I'm looking into reporting it to the police as a scam. BEWARE.

Good value for the money, with a clean place, nice surroundings and really friendly service. It felt like staying in someone's home. The internet was completely useless, though. I kept getting disconnected.

A good value hotel, just a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof. Our room and bathroom were clean and spacious, the shower was good, and the wifi connected quickly and was fast enough. The cold breakfast was excellent, and all the staff were very pleasant. There's no lift and the hotel has four storeys. We heard a little railway and street noise, but closing the windows took care of it. The neighborhood doesn't look great, but we've stayed nearby many times and it's very safe.

They really saved me. I arrived exhausted without a booking and got a room, while every nearby hotel was full. The location is great too, on a quiet street with kiosks, pubs and cafes, and only a five-minute walk to tram and bus stations and to the central railway station. Thanks so much, hope to see you again!

The rooms at Hotel Eigelstein were great, and we could walk to everything. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was lovely too. I loved staying here and would definitely recommend it!
