Tante ALMA's Hotel Lasthaus am Ring

The location was very good and convenient, but the high price made this a bad deal. The room interior was old, worn and impractical. The shower pressure was very low, and they still use old keys. The lift also wasn’t working during the trip.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was wonderful. We really enjoyed our three-night stay. It’s perfectly placed for exploring Cologne, with one of the many pedestrian shopping streets just a few feet away.

The big plus for me was the roomy lounge and common areas, called playrooms, which worked perfectly for my work meetings. The location couldn’t be better, very central and across the street from the Belgian quarter. If you don’t know Cologne, trust me, this is a place to be! This was my second Tante Alma stay and my first at this location. I like their elaborate concept and how consistent it is across all their houses. It might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it works for me. The hotel itself is a bit worn. That doesn’t bother me too much, but the bathroom clearly hasn’t been renovated in a while. The tap sprayed everywhere, and the toilet only had one type of flush. Some shared areas need a refresh too. The mattress was comfy, but the pillow could be better and smaller. A fridge in the room was a plus, though I missed having a kettle. For this price, all good!

It’s a great location for a short city trip, and I recommend the hotel for that. The room was clean, okay and big enough. The TV didn’t work, though we didn’t ask the team to look at it, so maybe they could have fixed it. Reception isn’t open 24 hours, which meant we had to leave our bags at the train station when we left.
