Innception Hotel

The location was great, about 15 minutes from the Dom, beside a nice shopping area, and surrounded by good restaurants. Our room was nice and very clean, with fresh towels every day.

We had to pass through six doors between the lift and our room. Inside, there were stains on the topper used to cover collapsed mattresses, no closets, and often no hot water in the shower. The room was extremely hot, with no air conditioning and a fan that barely worked. They didn't even ask how we'd enjoyed our stay at checkout, which says a lot about how many complaints they must hear.

The location was especially convenient, just a one-minute walk from the nearest subway or train station, and the price felt like good value for the room and location. We stayed two nights in a budget double room, which was bigger than I expected and larger than other 11 m2 rooms I've tried. The facilities seemed new, and the WMF kettle was a nice surprise, though the mini fridge was far too small. The fire door kept noise out well but had no chain. One time, a housekeeper knocked and then opened the door a second later while we were still inside. We found stains on one duvet cover the first night. I called to have it changed, and it was taken care of promptly. The queen-size bed was too small for two slim adults, but it was otherwise soft, firm, and comfortable.

Evening options are only a few steps away, and you can reach pretty much anywhere in Cologne on foot from this spot in the tourist and nightlife heart of "The Rings". The room size was more than acceptable for the price, the bathroom was well equipped, and the furniture was in good condition. The hotel was clean, the WiFi worked great, and the staff spoke several languages and met our requests. We'd definitely come back and recommend it.
