Liberty Hotel Cologne

I paid 75 euros per night and got a ridiculously tiny room, with a bathroom that was far too cramped. The room didn't match the pictures on booking. The bathroom had no window or proper door. Worst hotel I've ever paid for. I wouldn't recommend it.

I got to the hotel door at 8:30, but nobody was there. On the phone, after I gave the name on my reservation, the staff member said she couldn't find it because the booking was on another computer and that I might have to wait an hour or two. She also said I was too late, even though agoda said check-in was available until 10 o'clock. When I pointed that out, she said it was too late for her. She told me to sleep on the street and threatened to cancel my order. I waited nearly an hour with my luggage before I could get into the room. She hung up on me six times. The attitude was awful, and the whole thing was disgusting.

At checkout, I saw a charge of 312 euros twice. The hotel said the double booking was my mistake and refused to refund me, though they had only given me one key and hadn't mentioned a second room at all. I only discovered there had been two bookings after I was charged twice. Apparently, a booking system error had made the reservation twice, and when I moved, nobody brought up the extra booking. The receptionist was rude and spoke disrespectfully to me. The room also felt small for the price. This was my worst hotel experience in the past couple of years.

For the price, it's not a bad hotel, but there are a couple of major problems. In some rooms, the gap between the toilet seat and the wall is so narrow you can't use it. The location is handy for tourist spots, but that means a LOT of noise throughout the day.
