Steigenberger Hotel Koln

The location was a real plus: it's not right by the Dom in the city center, so it isn't completely crazy outside, but it's still close to everything you'd want to see in Koln. The rooms were great, service was amazing, and the maids did an excellent job cleaning each day. The water pressure was good and the water nice and hot. The wifi Internet was awful. It only worked well in the hotel bar, where you could sit comfortably and work for hours without being moved along.

The location was fantastic, with Christmas markets right outside and public transport nearby. There's a large public car park beneath the hotel, with a lift directly into it. We had a lovely stay and will come back next time we're in Cologne. Our room was large, with a very comfortable bed and pillows, and the bedroom window had an amazing view of the cathedral and nearby Christmas market. The shower was brilliant, though using it tended to flood the bathroom a little. The visible damage at the bottom of the bathroom door made it look like this had been an ongoing problem. Our room also had a connecting door that stayed locked since we didn't need it, but we could hear the guests in the next room talking.

The room was quiet, spacious, clean, and modern, and I slept well. I’d meant to book Ruby Ella again after staying there on my last Cologne visit a few months ago, but Steigenberger came up at a good Black Friday price. I’m glad I gave it a try. I was even wondering if I’d been upgraded without being told.

Getting around Cologne was easy from here, with the Christmas market and tram and train stations close by. I stayed for 10 days and liked the service, the location, and the breakfast. My room had a simple design, was clean, and had a window view. Breakfast had plenty of food and drink options.
