We couldn’t sleep because of noisy neighbors at night, and the room we got was 15 m² instead of the 25 m² we booked, on a lower level. The building is very small. There was no hot water, or it took 15 minutes to come through. We waited 10 minutes for someone to open the main door, then another five to find anyone responsible. The house has three floors and no signs, and it felt like nobody was there. The owner was very unfriendly and reluctant to talk, though he wanted to discuss his own questions. He was rude in messages too. On Booking, he marked us as not arriving the following day, apparently so he could get paid without receiving a bad review. My wife booked for herself and our child, but there was no pillow or blanket for the child, even after she asked. The pillows and towels smelled used and unclean, with different odors in different places. The owner joked that maybe we had something to measure the room with when we said it was 10 m² smaller than booked. We did, and there were more uncomfortable issues besides that. Don’t take the coffee either. It looked disgusting, and nobody wanted to drink it. The whole experience felt very unfriendly. If you really want to claim we weren’t there, look at these pictures.

We booked at the last minute, after first checking whether our boat trailer could fit in the parking area. It could, so we went ahead. The owner seemed surprised by how suddenly we booked, but still gave us full service. After a little improvising, he checked the room and set up a baby bed. He was polite and seemed glad to have us, and we were glad to be there. The outside made us a bit nervous at first, but inside the room was a wonderful hidden gem. The high ceiling, nice furniture, and old but effective bathroom fixtures suited us as fans of authentic buildings. Breakfast was personal and really nice. Thanks again to the owner, whose name I don’t know, for having us.

It brought back memories of the old romantic hotels in Bad Gastein. Don’t come expecting modern perfection, though. The appeal is old-fashioned elegance and charm, with all its grand, opulent style. We’ll definitely be back many times.

It felt like a little trip into the past. If you enjoy nostalgic buildings and places, this is a great fit. The owner was really nice and handled everything himself during our business trip. Highly recommended, and I’d love to return.
