The Christmas market location was amazing, and the rooms were very nice. We stayed two nights with our children, aged 7 and 9. Before booking, I emailed to ask whether a family would be welcome in a suite and got a positive reply. I checked again by email a few weeks before arriving and was assured we were welcome, but the actual stay didn't feel welcoming. I felt we were treated differently because we were a family, American, and had booked online. Nobody told us there would be a $120 per night charge for using the sofabed until checkout. Most reservations include breakfast, but ours didn't, and at checkout they tried to charge us an exorbitant amount for breakfast we hadn't eaten. One person at check-in was very nice, but generally the staff weren't warm and often didn't acknowledge us. At this price, I can't recommend it for families at all. I felt taken advantage of as an American family.

The menu is limited, but the food is great, and the prices feel fair for the quality of both the service and food. The downstairs restaurant has very comfortable furniture. Staff are always friendly and professional, and it's well worth a visit. I can only recommend eating here.

The food and service are first class at this 1 Michelin Star hotel and restaurant in Deidesheim. Historical figures have dined here, and the place is proud to show that history. I'd definitely come back again 😉

The glass in my salad made a loud crunch when I bit down, and I completely lost my appetite. The waitress didn't seem very apologetic afterward. In my opinion, they could do a lot better. Maybe the famous guests whose pictures they proudly display on the staircase get a better experience?
