B&B Hotel Dessau

The staff were kind and gave good service. Their English wasn’t very strong, but we managed with gestures and a mix of languages. Booking a room was easy, and they even helped me get a night before the one I’d booked. Parking is available, though there are only a few spaces and it felt a little expensive, so I think it should be included. Breakfast was ordinary, as you might expect at a small hotel. Prices otherwise seemed okay, and it’s not far from the city center. I had a great day in Dessau and nothing else to complain about.

The room was roomy, with a big shower, and the large bed and excellent pillows made for a comfortable night. Breakfast was a standard continental spread with plenty of choices. It suited our stay in Dessau perfectly, and we’d come back.

We couldn’t check out because the machines weren’t working and nobody was at reception, so we eventually just left. The night before, we arrived at 23:15 to find no one at reception and couldn’t get into the parking area. I’d emailed several days earlier to say we’d be late and needed parking with a charger for our electric car, but got no reply, so we had no idea we needed to arrive earlier. Breakfast was quite expensive, and the small room was completely full. The food was very poor, with no fried or scrambled eggs, bacon, or similar options. We left without eating.

There’s a Peter Pane right next door, which was a nice bonus. The family room, though, was tiny compared with the ones we’ve had at other B&B hotels, and this stay fell short of the cleanliness we’d come to expect from them. If you only need a short stop and aren’t expecting much, it’s an okay option. I wouldn’t stay here again.
