The apartment was spacious, clean, and better than we expected. We were delighted to find an attic with two small mattresses for the children, and the location was excellent, within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, and shops. The receptionist was kind and helpful. We were traveling as a family and prefer hotel apartments with a small kitchen, so this was the only option of that kind available during our stay in Detmold. Getting started was a little awkward: there was no reception at the apartment address, so we had to call to arrange the key. We also had to climb quite a few stairs to the second floor, as there’s no elevator.

The mattresses are very good, and the apartments are modern and nicely furnished. But we’re here for two nights in summer, and the location has been a disaster. There’s no air conditioning, so opening the windows lets in the heat, and the bar next door stays open until 3 a.m., serving people outside until then. The noise is unbearable, and getting restful sleep before 3 is out of the question. The prices also seem high for this. We can’t recommend it.
