Hotel & Restaurant Becher

We were disappointed with the Christmas breakfast market. We’d expected to eat in the cozy restaurant, but it was held in a hall instead. The advertised Brie, mineral water and sweet bread weren’t available. Most of the roughly 15 cold cuts and other meat options, including smoked and boiled sausages and bratwurst, were pork. Only one cold cut was an exception. The mass-produced mozzarella and tomato had neither the texture nor the taste of mozzarella. The scrambled eggs were very wet, and when my wife asked for another egg dish, such as an omelet, she was simply told they didn’t have one. For a Christmas breakfast at that price, we expected a lot more. We can only give it two stars.

The Hotel Restaurant Becher has been well known around the Göppingen district for decades. Our roast beef was high quality and cooked perfectly, with divine gravy and tasty spaetzle. The pancake soup could’ve used a little more salt, but the pancakes themselves were delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

At the wedding we attended at the Hotel Becher, the buffet left a bad impression. It wasn’t replenished, so many guests were left with scraps. There wasn’t enough fish, vegetables or meat, and some things ran out completely. I felt sorry for the bride and groom. Guests should leave satisfied, not with a negative impression of the wedding.

I expected better and won’t be going back. The staff were rude, and when I said there was a problem with the bill, they immediately threatened to bring in the boss.
