Days Inn by Wyndham Dortmund West

The bathroom is only 2 × 2.5, and the washroom is far too small, about 3 × 2.5 plus 2 × 2.5. It’s difficult even for a normal person to use. We booked single occupancy and were assigned a single room that was very small, 6 x 8. Check the room size before booking.

There’s a parking lot at the hotel, but you have to pay to use it. They only changed the towels now and then, and the room wasn’t cleaned during our stay. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The breakfast was excellent, and our dogs were welcome. For the price, it’s a very good hotel: the staff were helpful and knew what they were doing, and the room was a good size with a double bed, shower room and the usual equipment, including a TV. The carpets looked a bit worn, but the bed linen was nicer than what we have at home.

We left after ten minutes. The sewage smell was so strong as soon as we entered our room, and it was dirty too. Our friends’ room smelled the same, and their toilet wouldn’t flush. When we asked to change rooms, reception said all the rooms smelled like that. We asked for a refund, but were told we couldn’t cancel after 6pm because of their policy. The receptionist then got rude, so we left without our money back. There was no way we could stay in that smell and end up smelling of it ourselves. Other reviews going back as far as six years mention the water and sewage problem, so the hotel clearly has a major issue that needs fixing. It should be torn down and completely rebuilt. I’ll never stay at a Days Inn again.
