Hotel Unique Majestic

We arrived around midnight after an exhausting 12-plus-hour drive from Ljubljana to Dortmund. We had a confirmed Booking.com reservation, also confirmed by the hotel by email, and had filled in the online check-in form ahead of time. Payment had been pre-authorized and the amount was blocked on our bank account. In reception there was a strong smell of marijuana. The manager and receptionist at the desk both appeared to be under the influence of drugs, with glassy eyes, slow reactions, and completely inappropriate behavior. They refused to check us in despite the valid booking, repeatedly ignored us, and then walked away from reception without explaining anything. The incident was recorded on video. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night, which was incredibly stressful after such a long drive. We strongly warn other travelers against booking here. We believe this behavior was unprofessional and illegal, since drug use at work is prohibited under German law. We are demanding an official response from the hotel, an immediate refund of all withheld funds, and appropriate action from Booking.com and Google regarding the hotel. We consider it unsafe, believe the staff were unfit to work, and warn that even with a confirmed reservation you risk being left outside at night. Avoid it.
