Leonardo Hotel Dortmund

Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of fresh choices and good coffee. The staff kept things running smoothly even when it was busy, and the reception team were welcoming and helpful. The modern room was spotless and comfortable, with a great bed, good lighting, a tea and coffee setup, and a clean, well-designed bathroom. The hotel is just a short walk from the main train station, shops, restaurants and public transport, so I could explore without a car. I stayed for a weekend and was really pleased overall. With the window open, some street noise came in at night, and parking at the hotel is limited and not cheap, so plan ahead if you’re driving. It’s a very good, well-located hotel, and I’d stay here again for another weekend in Dortmund.

The location is a real plus for business or leisure. Leonardo Hotel Dortmund is a few minutes’ walk from the central station and close to the city center, shops, and restaurants. The hotel has a restaurant and bar too, handy if you want a simple dinner without going out. Rooms are stylish, clean, and comfortable, with soundproof windows, reliable Wi-Fi, good air conditioning, modern bathrooms, and the usual basic amenities. The beds are comfortable, everything feels fresh and well maintained, and housekeeping keeps cleanliness to a high standard. Staff are professional, polite, and ready to help with questions or requests. Breakfast offers a generous mix of hot and cold choices, plenty of fresh fruit, and good coffee. Parking is limited and a bit pricey, and traffic can be noticeable with the window open in a room facing the main street. Even so, the hotel is good value for money, with comfortable rooms and quality service. I can recommend Leonardo Hotel Dortmund with confidence.

The rooms are gorgeous, and the morning team deserve a huge shoutout. The ladies working in the morning were absolutely fabulous, gold. Inside, the hotel looks fine, but arriving at night was another story: first there’s the traffic jam, then you end up on a road where some weirdos are catcalling. You have to ring the hotel doorbell to get in, and then wait to be let inside. The car park is always full, so plan where you’ll park. You might get lucky and find a free space on the street right outside. The bed was super king sized, but we still had to sleep under German single duvets. It’s a perfect place if you need to stay in the city centre. If you can be flexible about where you stay, I’d look elsewhere.

We stayed four nights to see the Christmas markets and go to Phantasialand. The location is amazing, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Dortmund centre. The road can get a bit noisy, as some people have mentioned, but that comes with the location. The staff were all lovely, and breakfast each morning was great, with a fantastic selection. They’ll make poached eggs if you ask, and the complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby throughout the day was a lovely touch. We had a hire car and could easily park in the hotel car park each night. We’d booked breakfast for every morning, but our flight was early on the last day, so we told reception we’d miss it. They prepared lunch bags for us, ready when we left at 6am. I’m at the airport now, and those rolls are honestly the tastiest thing ever. Thank you for the yummy lunch bags instead of breakfast!
