Residence Inn by Marriott Dortmund

We had a really comfortable stay at the Residence Inn. The location is central, with the stadium a few minutes' walk one way and the main market square the other. The front desk team were friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. Rooms have the useful things you need, including an iron, microwave, and cooking equipment. There's also free self-service laundry, which is a great extra.

We were stranded without a confirmed room after MakeMyTrip mishandled our reservation, so we had to book a room on the spot at Residence Inn Dortmund City (Moxy Hotel by Marriott). After a long journey, we were glad that one helpful receptionist confirmed a room quickly, though some of the other staff seemed less welcoming. The walk-in rate was higher than the online price, and the rooms felt smaller than expected for what we paid. After this experience, we won't rely on MakeMyTrip for future bookings. The breakfast spread was a bright spot, with a good range of coffee, cakes, bread, juice, and nuts. We had included breakfast and thought it was worth trying. They also gave us a welcome drink, a nice gesture. The lobby had attractive decorations, games, and creative items that made it feel warm and comfortable, and the secure lift access helped us feel safe. We were disappointed to find the body wash dispensers empty when we wanted to freshen up. We used our own shampoo, then told the staff, who offered a temporary fix. It's surprising for a hotel of this standard. It's a nice place to visit, but the price didn't quite feel justified, and a few improvements would make the stay more worthwhile.

The hotel welcomes dogs, and the room had a kitchen area so we could cook for ourselves. The room was spacious, and the standard was very high. Breakfast went beyond what I expected, with a wide choice, and the location was perfect. My one complaint is the lack of parking. The staff didn't clearly explain where we could leave the car, so we lost a lot of time figuring it out, especially since we don't speak German.

The breakfast was delicious, though the room gets very crowded on busier days. The location is great, close to the train station. Our room was fully equipped with a kitchen, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, toaster, and safe. There was also a free washer and dryer, with only the soap costing extra. Great accommodation, I recommend it!
