City Oasis made for a lovely stay, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend this lovingly run place. The personalized breakfast was a highlight: no buffet, just a table set to each guest’s taste, with delicious coffee every morning. The service was superb, friendly and attentive without hovering. Our themed room, "Florence on the Elbe," was lovely and made us feel at ease. The city is walkable, with a beautiful route along the palace gardens and past the Canaletto viewpoint. Neustadt (New Town) is only a few minutes away too, with plenty of good restaurants and the Golden Rider statue. We were completely satisfied.

Our room, "Florence on the Elbe," had a cozy southern feel, with large tiles, busts on the walls, and wicker and wooden furniture. Each room has its own theme, and I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived at the City Oase and the owner showed me around. I was in Dresden for business just before the long May weekend, and my girlfriend and I spontaneously decided to turn it into a city break. I arrived Thursday, with her due the next day, so we needed a central place with rooms available at short notice. We chose the "City Oase," and even the first phone call left a good impression thanks to the friendly service. Breakfast was fantastic. You can agree on a time with the owner each day, so you’re not tied to a set schedule. Instead of a buffet, there’s an individually set table with spreads, cold cuts, cheese, fresh fruit, and vegetables. They handle special requests too: my girlfriend is lactose intolerant, and each morning she reliably got fruit without yogurt. Fresh bakery rolls arrived every morning, and the coffee was excellent. The walk to the center is lovely, past the Palais Gardens and over the Augustus Bridge, with a view of Canaletto along the way. Neustadt (New Town), with its many great restaurants, is also easy to reach on foot. The owners are dedicated and friendly, always available but never intrusive, and happy to share local knowledge and tips on sights. The room, service, and location all worked perfectly for us. I highly recommend this oasis!

The stairs are a bit steep, so they could be difficult for older guests or anyone with mobility issues. Apart from that, this was a really interesting and tasteful place, and we felt very comfortable in the Schiller Room. There are other options too, like the Karl May Room. Each room has a "Saxon" theme, which felt refreshingly individual compared with standardized hotel rooms. The amenities were excellent: free Wi-Fi, free parking right outside, cozy underfloor heating that was lovely in winter, a modern spotless bathroom, a big flat-screen TV, a charming sitting area, a CD player with several Schiller CDs, and a bookcase full of different kinds of literature. There are drinks in a refrigerator in the downstairs hallway. The little backyard garden is nice for smokers and seems like it would be a relaxing spot for summer guests too. The innkeeper, originally from Munich (!!!), is charming and attentive. The city center is a delightful 15-minute walk along the Elbe. Breakfast is simple, but there’s something for everyone. We highly recommend it.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The rooms are lovingly furnished, and the hosts are friendly. It’s in the new town, with the old town easy to reach on foot. I would’ve liked a little more choice at breakfast, but otherwise everything was great.

The owners were incredibly friendly, gave us helpful advice about visiting the city, and took great care of us at breakfast. We stayed four nights at the City-Oase during the Striezelmarkt Christmas market in mid-December 2016, and both felt almost at home throughout our five-day stay. The themed rooms and bathrooms were beautiful, spacious, and always spotlessly clean. Thanks to you both, keep up the great work and don’t let anything get in the way of your dreams! Your new fans, HVB.
