The rooms were small and hot, and the hotel was noisy, right by the tram and a busy road. The garden was unkept, the WiFi was bad, and I found bugs in my cereal. Staff were rude and service was slow. I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s a pity, because I think it used to be good and has so much potential, but it feels typically German in that they don’t want to improve.

Dinner gets busy at the hotel restaurant, which seems popular with locals, and dishes are served only until 8:00 p.m., so don’t leave it late. Breakfast costs extra and comes as a buffet, with lots of fresh, appetizing choices. The staff were professional, and there’s ample parking. The hotel is a little outside the historic area, but tram 4 makes it easy to reach the center. Our room was spotless and well equipped, including a hair dryer and fan, with a very comfortable bed. The details were thoughtfully prepared, even the way the towels were arranged.
