ibis Dresden Zentrum

The room was clean, and I had a fantastic view of the Christmas market right outside. I was a bit cold overnight even after adjusting the temperature. When I asked to leave my luggage, they told me my room was already ready at 10:45, which was incredibly helpful. I stayed one night at this no-frills hotel, which gives you what you need, and I'd come back.

The bed was stiff and hard, and the pillow was very flat. I also found the carpet dirty, and there was no safety box. Still, it was an okay stay overall. The central location was close to everything I needed, the staff were helpful, and booking through booking.com was easy. There were plenty of elevators for the number of floors, and a hair dryer in the bathroom.

I am writing about a deeply disappointing stay at Ibis Dresden Zentrum. On Sunday, 1st February 2026, at around 6 pm, I went to reception for hot water so I could take medication and hopefully avoid getting ill. The receptionist said I could only get hot water by borrowing a kettle with a €10 cash deposit, and refused card payment. I had no cash. I politely explained that kettles are routinely in rooms at other Ibis hotels across Europe, especially for Accor Live Limitless Gold members, and asked again for hot water and, if possible, a tea bag. A staff member from the bar brought hot water, but her expression and manner were extremely unfriendly and dismissive. I asked politely for one tea bag and was told it had to be paid for. No alternative or courtesy was offered. I only needed hot water and a tea bag to take medicine, a minimal and reasonable request. At other ibis hotels, these have been in my room or at least available in the lobby. Here, there wasn't even a bottle of water in my room. I have never been treated this way at another establishment. Regensburg was basic too, but the staff were so helpful, kind, and friendly that guests felt at home. In Ibis Innsbruck and Vienna, hot water, tea, and coffee were free in the lobby, and the staff were kind and professional. In Budapest and Prague, I also experienced professionalism and a warm welcome. That's why the treatment in Dresden surprised and disappointed me so much. As a Gold status member it was upsetting, but it was unacceptable on a basic human level, especially given the health-related reason. It should just be human to give someone hot water and a tea bag. There was another problem when I arrived with two heavy suitcases and struggled with them. I asked the receptionist for help, but she vaguely gestured toward some carts without showing me where they were or offering assistance. Her tone again came across as unfriendly and uninterested. I would not normally escalate this, but the repeated indifference and rudeness left me feeling I had no choice. If this is the service for loyal Accor Gold members, I worry about how other guests are treated. The service fell below the basic standards I expect from Ibis and Accor. Every guest deserves courtesy and hospitality regardless of status. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to better staff training in guest recognition and, above all, respectful, human, friendly treatment. The conduct of the lady at the bar should be addressed first, followed by that of the receptionist. Both interactions felt unprofessional and were not what I expected. The reception staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds, though small as expected for this price range. With the windows open, noise from the street was low even on the 10th floor, which helped since the AC was a joke. Breakfast was crowded and very noisy, and the food was quite bland. It isn't included by default, and getting something downtown is cheaper and better. This works for a few days spent exploring lovely Dresden; my only reason for four stars is the price-to-value ratio.
