It felt bright, cheerful, and friendly, and as a woman travelling alone I felt safe and welcome, even in a mixed dorm. There's a lovely outdoor space for coffee or breakfast. Getting around is easy too: Little Tokyo, Königsallee, and the Old Town are walkable, and tram stops and the U-Train are close by. A taxi from the Hauptbahnhof takes about five minutes if you don't fancy the 20-minute walk. The shared facilities are well thought out. Showers are spacious and easy to use, toilets are plentiful across different floors, and the lockers are massive. The bed had USB and fast chargers, plus a bright, easy-to-use reading light. Linens and towels were clean, the bed was comfortable, signs were easy to follow, and breakfast choices were simple. The multilingual staff made communication easy. I fumbled the dorm door code at first, but the residents already inside let me in and showed me how it worked. All good now.

The location was fine, but I felt unsafe. I went under the alias Angie Hutchinson and was a quiet girl travelling alone. The dorm was coed, and staff seemed to disappear at night. There wasn't female staff when I went, and I would have felt safer with that or with staff available 24/7. I hope that's changed. The owner was awful to me, yelling and getting angry easily. You can see from his replies to bad reviews that he claims people he doesn't like were never there. I was there. They had, or have, one basement room with a single bed, and that was mine. I eventually moved to another hostel that felt like a better fit.

The hostel was clean and the price was fair for the service, but the beds were uncomfortable and breakfast was quite basic. I wouldn't book here again. Paying just a few extra Euros per night could get you noticeably better comfort and quality elsewhere. I wanted to be honest since this review might affect your choice and trip.

One of the most pleasant hostel stays I've had. Everything was clean, including the rooms and bathrooms. Check-in was easy, with no need to go talk to the receptionist. They also provide complimentary breakfast, which is great if you have to travel first thing and don't have time to go out for food.
