Hotel Karolinger

At €84 for a single room, I expected a lot more. It was under 10 square metres, much smaller than the website photos suggested, with a tiny window and no view. The room was freezing, dusty and visibly dirty, which was especially worrying because I have allergies. The heater was loud and didn’t work, so I couldn’t sleep all night. The flexible shower hose was broken and leaking, and there was no receptionist or other staff on site. When I reported the problems, I was told to change the bedsheets myself. Completely unacceptable.

The room was clean and everything was fine. Getting the key was straightforward: they emailed a code for the box, and checking out was just a matter of dropping the key back in. A simple, practical hotel. I recommend it.

The woman in charge was kind and helpful, and the hotel itself was great. The rooms were clean and had everything I needed. It's in a central, relatively safe area for women traveling alone, with an active U-Bahn nearby and a direct connection to Hauptbahnhof. I was concerned about arriving late, but the self check-in lets you get the code and key whenever you turn up. Highly recommend it.

At Karolinger Hotel, I arrived earlier than planned and was worn out from traveling. The staff were very polite and let me check in early without any hassle. Their accommodating service made the stay a great experience.
