Hotel Domo

When I arrived at night, the people hanging around outside the hotel made me feel uneasy. It's on a very busy square full of cars and trams, too. The rooms are a little old-fashioned but okay, though there's no AC and it was too hot for me.

A good option for staying here, even when the city is really busy.

The room was more than enough for the price, and it's close to the train station. Still, I didn't enjoy having to feel on edge whenever I went outside. The district felt like living inside a Gotham City version of Düsseldorf. The mayor is apparently such a big Batman fan that he built a district based on Gotham, not just in looks: there were suspicious people watching you on every corner, glass bottles being thrown at each other, and shouting at night. The hotel leaned into the horror movie feeling too. The same red carpet runs across the floor, with enough stains to make you wonder who was murdered in your room. We got so caught up in the atmosphere that we wedged a chair against the door so the Joker wouldn't kidnap us overnight.

On arrival, there was no running water in the room. Eventually we got cold water, but never any hot water. The room was grubby, and the bathroom door had clearly been forced open before, with no repair to the damage. Reception was mostly absent, and there was only one key. The rooms are on the fifth and sixth floors of a vandalised apartment block.
