Stettiner Hof

We found a very good hotel that evening, thankfully. The "Stettiner Haff" guesthouse in Eggesin, though, had dirt, cobwebs and dirty bedding everywhere. Tiles were coming off the wall, and the shower had black mold. There may have been fleas or bedbugs, but we didn't want to risk finding out, so that's only a guess. If you like living that way at home and want the same on vacation, here's another recommendation. You'll feel right at home. We didn't get our money back, of course, so the lawyer will have to sort it out.

We booked because the online pictures looked good and the reviews were very positive. For the price, I expected the actual hotel to match those photos, but we're bitterly disappointed. There were things lying around all over the place that didn't belong there. When we arrived, everything was locked and we couldn't tell where the entrance was. We parked in a lot full of craters. After calling, we got the safe code and the key. Inside, the house smelled musty and old. The staircase seemed at risk of collapsing, and baseboards were missing from most walls. The old carpet in our room was coming up at the edges, paint was peeling from the window frames, and the shower sealant in the bathroom was moldy.

The room had good equipment, and breakfast was simple. It's a rustic-feeling guesthouse. At €75 with breakfast, I thought the price was about €16 too high.

We called around noon looking for a room for one night as a stopover. The building's a little dated, but the rooms were clean. Breakfast was delicious, and the service was friendly.
