Hot water was a real hassle. It took forever to come through, and at the bathroom sink I couldn’t get any hot water at all. The water-saving aerator made the flow so slow that it never warmed up. The kitchen had a similar issue. The dishwasher’s filter was completely blocked with sand. Our first load came out dirty, so I had to clean the machine by hand and run the dishes again. At checkout, we were expected to strip the beds, wash and dry the dishes and put them away, and take out the rubbish, despite paying for full cleaning. The location itself was incredibly quiet, with no outside noise at all. The exception was Saturday afternoon, when the hosts, who are our neighbors, spent hours drilling and sawing inside the house. There’s plenty to keep children busy even when the weather’s rainy, and the garden has play equipment like a swing and climbing frame. The apartment itself is large, with lots of space, and fully equipped, so we didn’t find ourselves missing anything. It’s on the edge of Carlsfeld, only a few minutes on foot from the inn by the reservoir, and a little farther from the Carlsfeld dam.
