Pension am Rennsteig

We could have breakfast outside, and the location was quiet. Booking was quick, and the email communication about arrangements was friendly. The rooms were fine, and using the pool was excellent. Everything was okay.

Other guests could reach our room from the shared balcony, which was also shared with other rooms. There was no hand soap, insects were everywhere, and there was no parking. It attracted a bad crowd, including people smoking marijuana. Cameras were used to monitor guests. The owner charged extra for the pool and the grill, and it felt like every little thing came with another fee. We felt squeezed dry and wouldn't recommend it. The owner seemed suspicious and aggressive. If you rent rooms, you should know how to treat guests. Go take hospitality lessons and let your parents teach you some manners again. It's unacceptable to treat paying guests so rudely.

We planned to stay three nights but left after two because we were exhausted. The old building has four units and was full, including families with small children. We could barely sleep: children were screaming downstairs, the bathroom fan ran, someone next door snored, and footsteps creaked overhead. The room looked clean at first, but not when we looked more closely, and it could use a vacuum. The bathroom was spotless, though the mattresses were very soft. There were only three spaces for four units, so the last to arrive had to park farther down the road; the parking was a narrow gravel lane. Room arrangements were made by phone with a “very nice representative.” We were told to leave the cash on the room table, and entry was by spare key, with no in-person handover. Afterwards, staff called to ask about the money and suspected fraud.

We spent a night here for a celebration. The room was clean and well looked after. For three people, 90 euros for one night with an extra bed and no breakfast wasn't exactly cheap.
