Signature Hotel Skarv

The hotel does several things well: it’s clean, the Wi-Fi is good, the bed is comfortable, and both room and bathroom lighting are good. There’s a decent lift, secure bicycle storage in the underground garage, and the station and restaurants are within walking distance. We’ve stayed in hundreds of European hotels, large and small, and I’d call this one average, with a couple of serious drawbacks. The biggest issue is the heat. There’s no air conditioning or portable fan, so you have to leave the window open. Then you hear the cars, and people outside smoking and talking loudly through the night. Hotel staff also seem to go out front for cigarettes and loud conversations, right below open windows. The buildings nearby are covered in graffiti, and the entrance has cigarette butts and smelly ashtrays all over it. I wouldn’t come back.

The room was clean and modern, with bathroom ventilation that kept the humidity down. The hotel is well placed for driving, trains, and town facilities, and the road outside is relatively quiet. There are four chargers for electric cars, so I might rent one next time I’m in Germany. My second-floor room was hot and stuffy the first night even though it was only 20 degrees outside. Leaving the window open didn’t cool it quickly, and you can hear traffic with it open. The hotel should consider outside shading for each window, which could help without a major air conditioning retrofit. I should have asked reception about cooling fans, that was my mistake. They need to prepare better for hotter summers. The bed was firm, which helps my bad back, but too hard for sleeping on my side. I’d stay again, probably in cooler months.

I stayed here to split up a long journey, and it was just what I needed for a great price. The hotel is quiet, very clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The firm bed and excellent shower were great, and I had one of my best hotel sleeps. The cleaning team did a good job, and reception was friendly. Minimalist perfection. Thanks, I’d recommend it.

The room was tidy, clean, and modern, and the hotel itself feels new. The person at the front desk was friendly, helpful, and very professional, which made a good first impression. I’d recommend paying the extra €10 for secure parking. Great place and staff.
