The garden had lots of play options, and our eldest especially loved seeing the cows in the meadow right beside the balcony. Our apartment was clean and spacious, with plenty of room for two adults, two children, and a dog. The owners were very friendly and happy to answer questions, and they provided a travel cot for our toddler, which was fantastic. It’s simple, quiet accommodation at a very family-friendly price, and the farm is well located for day trips.

The owners were friendly and helpful, and there are some nice trips to take nearby, including the Vogtsbauernhof open-air museum, the waterfall in Triberg, and the summer toboggan run near Gutach. It’s affordable accommodation in an authentic Black Forest house, in a beautiful setting with a walking and cycling path right by the house. The old farm dog isn’t looking for cuddles, the tomcat roams around, and the barn is empty because of mother cow husbandry, which is a blessing for the calves. Children can’t help with feeding or milking, but they can spend time with the goats, who enjoy treats. Wi-Fi and TV have limited functionality.

The Moser family were very friendly and accommodating, and we’d definitely return. The farmhouse sits right by the Elz River in a valley with fantastic mountain hiking trails, a wonderful spot with or without snow. Our apartment was charming, well equipped, and surprisingly large for such an unbeatable price. It even had the little essentials like dishwasher tablets, soap, shower gel, and a hairdryer. Highly recommended!
