Hotel Pfauen

The price is hard to beat, and if you just need a bed in the center of Endingen, this is acceptable. I paid 125€ per night after booking in advance. I’d say it’s best for Fall or Spring, though I was disappointed with the hotel. I stayed three nights, and the room reached 37⁰C. There’s no Aircon, just one fan with a 3-hour timer. The balcony door opens onto a shared balcony, so you can only leave the window slightly open. The rooms are extremely old. The mini bar has local wines, beer, and bottled water for a charge; I walked about 10 minutes to the market and bought my own instead. The bathroom has a stall shower, and they count the towels. When I left, I put them on the floor to make it easier for them to count. There’s one lift, but it doesn’t reach the top floor, so ask in advance which room you’ll get. Parking is free in the back, on gravel, and first come, first served. You can hear people’s voices and cars from the room, and the sound echoes. It was fine except when a group left and made sure everyone knew about it. There’s no water heater in the room, but you can go to the breakfast room to heat your own water and make your own tea or coffee. Breakfast is free, but I didn’t go at all. I was so hot and tired from getting up all night to keep the fan running that I had no appetite. On the morning I left, I didn’t even look in, just wanted to get into my car with Aircon.
