Pension Wegerich

We were there from November 25th to 27th, 2025, and felt right away how much care the owners put into the guesthouse. They really pay attention to guests’ comfort. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared, with nice music in the background. A good, affordable place to stay in Erfurt, and I’d recommend it.

The old town is about a 20-minute walk away, or you can take the tram. Remember to buy a ticket before boarding or use the Fairtiq app. There’s free street parking too. This is a warm family-run guesthouse, with nicely furnished rooms, friendly staff from the Wegerich family, and a very good breakfast. Definitely recommend it for a visit to Erfurt.

Breakfast was fantastic, and the place was clean and comfortable. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly at Pension Wegerich. I’d happily recommend it, and I’ll be back.

We really enjoyed our stay and would book this guesthouse again next time we’re in Erfurt. The city center is 1.5 km away, with a pleasant route through the city park, though the tram is faster. The leafy street is nearly quiet; the tram runs past every 10 minutes from a stop almost next door, but we weren’t bothered by it. We had a suite with a good-sized bedroom and a large adjoining living room. The bathroom was adequate, with a roomy shower, but neither it nor the guesthouse is wheelchair accessible. The mattresses were too soft for us, and we’d forgotten our own pillows. The guesthouse pillows were also very soft and measured 80x80. It’s an old house with plenty of charm, along with creaky floors and stairs. Since houses are right across the street, it’s best to close the curtains at night, though people outside can still see in when the lights are on. The bedroom has pleated blackout blinds. There’s no bathroom window. The breakfast room is nicely furnished, and everyone sits together at a shared table without assigned places, which makes chatting easier. The host serves you personally, and there’s everything you need for breakfast. The rolls were pre-baked, though, even with a bakery diagonally across the street. We would have preferred fresh ones.
