The varied breakfast was lovely, and the staff were friendly and caring. I liked the decor and the free drinks voucher idea, which helps save on towel washing and daily cleaning. It would be great to have a lift and a safe, but otherwise it was fabulous for visiting family nearby. I would have liked to try the sauna, but we ran out of time.

The room got very hot at night, and without air conditioning it was hard to sleep comfortably. We’d booked access to the sauna and pool, but the website didn’t clearly explain their opening hours. It listed the pool times for Aquafitness and children’s swimming lessons, then said guests could use it outside those times. At reception, though, there was a note saying the pool closed to guests at 10 pm. We got to the hotel at 9:30 pm, and had to leave early for the convention the next morning, so I paid for facilities I couldn’t use. For our overnight visit to Gamerscon, there was plenty of parking, the rooms were clean, and breakfast had enough variety for €14 per person. I’d asked ahead about gluten-free breakfast options and got a quick yes. We had a drink and played a game we’d brought to the restaurant in the evening, and the bartender was attentive. He even asked if he should leave the lights on when he was going home while we were still playing. It was a decent stopover for the price compared with hotels closer to Cologne. I’d probably stay again if the weather were cooler, but without paying extra for the wellness facilities.

The meeting rooms had a beverage fridge, which should have been a plus, but it was so loud and heated the room. The rooms themselves were cozy, modern, and clean. Breakfast was awesome, while lunch and dinner weren’t so good in quality. Even the cook yelled at his staff, which is a no-go for me.

The rooms are very small, and the bathroom could use a refresh. Breakfast was good.
