The garden at holiday home "Heimathafen" is a lovely spot to unwind when the weather’s good, and the "winter roof terrace" is a highlight when it’s cooler. Inside, it’s clean and cozy, tastefully furnished with what you need for a North Sea holiday. The Bensersiel North Sea Spa, restaurants, and beach are all about a five-minute walk away. Esens, a charming town for a stroll, is about a seven-minute drive. We’d love to return!

We stayed for two weeks and had a wonderful time. Heimathafen is a cute holiday home, with newly renovated, beautifully furnished rooms. The preserved wooden floors give it a cozy feel, and everything was spotless 🤩. There’s also plenty of space to store clothes. We just can’t understand the negative reviews here.

The location is a strong point: the beach and restaurants are a short walk away. But this was the worst house I’ve stayed in during seven years of visits to Bensersiel. The furnishings are poor, and the decor doesn’t match the listing photos. The dirty curtains and mold and mildew in the bedroom were especially bad, and there were other issues too. At nearly €1000 a week in high season, I expected much better. Never again!

The house itself is beautiful, but mosquitoes became a real nuisance because some rooms don’t have fly screens. We were also disappointed to find the outdoor pool in Bensersiel closed. If we’d known that when booking, we wouldn’t have booked.
