Gimken Landhaushotel

The hotel has a very big garden where you can relax, and there’s also a restaurant with surprisingly delicious food. The location is very nice, the staff are helpful, and the rooms are very clean.

We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay in Essen-Borbeck. It’s a bit of a walk from Essen-Borbeck Bhf, though there’s a bus or taxi, and parking is available if you’re driving. The staff arranged a taxi for our departure. Breakfast was good, and I’d include it since there isn’t much nearby for breakfast on foot. We also enjoyed dinner and drinks at the restaurant. Our room was clean and comfortable; a small check-in issue was fixed right away. It’s a small hotel with friendly, helpful staff. We’d recommend it and stay again.

We got around by public transport, and having a bus stop right beside the hotel was really handy. The staff didn’t speak much English, but they were so friendly that it wasn’t a problem. Our room had what we needed, including a mini fridge, and I thought it was lovely, even if the decor might seem old-fashioned to some. We didn’t eat at the hotel, so I can’t comment on the food. The neighbourhood is beautiful, and the hotel’s garden looked charming. I wish we’d had more time to enjoy it.

I lost my key, but the staff were really flexible and friendly about it, and even upgraded me. The place is small but well kept. Highly recommend.
