Comfortable stay, but the wifi signal is weak...

At Am Turm 7, you get a nice, fairly quiet place to stay if you're after affordable accommodation in Essen-Werden and aren't too particular about your surroundings. I slept well on the comfortable beds, and the shower cubicles were perfectly fine. Breakfast was plentiful and lovingly put together. It's a rural spot up on a mountain, so insects sometimes get into the area and rooms. Silverfish aren't exactly attractive, but they're harmless. The house is a bit dated, yet perfectly adequate for a night, and it's easy to reach by bike or e-bike. We were satisfied and would happily come back. Thanks to the landlady and friendly staff.

The setting is beautiful, and the staff were all very friendly. We were here for a milestone birthday and family reunion. Rooms on the lower floor have their own bathrooms, and everything was clean and tidy. When the weather's good, you can sit outside, have a fire, or barbecue. The bathroom felt damp, seemingly because there's no heating, and some parts of the place are clearly showing their age. Still, it's a simple but good place to stay.

The staff at Haus am Turm made our spontaneous class trip possible. They were flexible with short-notice changes, and I had several practical, solution-oriented conversations with management. A huge thank you to them. My class and I stayed for three days, and I'd gladly return. We stayed on the floor where every room has its own bathroom and toilet. The rooms were clean, functional, and well maintained. People had mentioned the "silverfish problem," but I didn't personally have any trouble with them. The house sits at the end of a very steep road above Essen-Werden, a beautiful part of Essen surrounded by nature, with plenty of options for independent activities. The food was good to very good for a conference venue or youth hostel: solid home-style cooking, including hot evening meals, and there was always enough without needing to ask for seconds. It suited children's tastes well.
