Kelter

We spent four nights at this little hotel and restaurant, tucked into a quiet neighborhood with places to walk nearby. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful, treating us more like friends than customers. A lovely little find.

The area is a little remote, and getting around without a car isn’t easy, though taxis are available, so it wasn’t a major problem. The hotel sits in a quiet residential spot in the hills near Esslingen, overlooking vineyards. We had a couple of days here with a colleague. The staff were helpful and friendly, and we managed fine without knowing any German. Everything was clean, and both rooms had been recently renovated with comfortable beds. Breakfast was a typical continental spread. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but it was packed, which seemed like a good sign for a place people have to make a point of visiting.

The restaurant serves well-prepared German food, from roast goose to all kinds of wursts, with beer and wine to go along with it. This is a clean, traditional German hotel, and the service is attentive.

We had a really enjoyable stay. The place felt cozy, the staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent, and the food was delicious.
