Park Hotel Am Schloss

The hotel is set in the Nette valley, surrounded by a tranquil, park-like garden. Our large outside terrace was a pleasure, and the junior suite had a spacious, comfortable bedroom, very good beds that let us sleep long hours, and a roomy seating area. The bathroom was also a good size and adequately equipped. Breakfast was elaborate even without a buffet during Covid. You ordered ahead, and the next morning everything was served at the table: fresh breads, cheeses, cold cuts, croissants, cereals, a boiled egg, yogurt, juice, coffee or tea, and orange juice. The hotel restaurant was closed because of Covid. We stayed for three nights but had to cut short our planned four-night visit after German government Covid developments were announced the day before. We were from a high-risk area and didn’t want to stay in quarantine. Reception was understanding and accommodating, and didn’t charge us for the night we had booked but couldn’t use. We’d highly recommend the hotel and would like to come back someday.

The grounds are gorgeous, and the restaurant was fantastic. We’re from Australia, where smoking isn’t allowed anywhere, so the indoor smoking in the bar was hard for us. We didn’t spend long using the bar for that reason. Even so, I’d definitely stay here again.

Everything was very clean, and breakfast was plentiful. The breakfast room, bar, and garden are lovely, but the hotel feels like it has seen better days. The rooms are quite dated and really need renovating.

A very good place to stay for the Ring.
