Black Forest Lodge

Coming back after a long day outside to relax in the heated pool, enjoy the views, or play billiards was great. The hotel was peaceful, with ambient music adding to the atmosphere. I stayed here with my father in early June, and it was one of the best hotels I’ve been to, if not the best. It’s modern, well maintained, clean, and made with quality, and the room was the same. There’s lots of hiking in the beautiful hilly, wooded area, and free entry to the waterfalls and hanging bridge near Todtnau was a nice extra. The service was great too. A very friendly man welcomed us and stayed a little longer because of our traffic delays, so he could show us around. They also deliver fresh bread rolls to the door in the morning. A few things could be better. The electric stove took 10-15 minutes to boil a pot of water. There’s no A/C. We didn’t need it during our stay, but I can imagine the well-insulated rooms getting uncomfortably hot in midsummer. There’s also no bar or restaurant for a drink or bite to eat. I’d give it a solid 9/10 and recommend it for a peaceful trip focused on nature.

The area is unbelievably beautiful, and the staff made us feel like family. We’re from the United States and stayed during the hottest week of the year. We’re very used to A/C, but the rooms were so well ventilated that they never felt hot. This place is amazing, my highest rating.

The pool and sauna were a really relaxing part of our stay, and the location was peaceful. We were there in an apartment just before Christmas, and it was spectacular. Eric helped us check in and was fabulous and so helpful. The apartment was stocked with delicious breakfast food, and fresh bread rolls arrived each morning.

The manager was incredible and went above and beyond for me and my family. The architecture and decor are out of this world, the food selection was amazing, and I can’t think of a better location. Perfect in every way, and a real credit to the business.
