The nearby Klöster Restaurant, about a 10-minute drive away, seems to offer a better experience. Here, the dishes felt minimal, with little creativity in the plating for the prices. I also didn't like being offered salad or Saur kraut with a dish without being told there'd be an extra charge. That's unusual, to say the least. I'd think twice before coming back.

I've loved the Mairhofer since I was a kid. The people are good, the meals are excellent, and the prices are regular. Congratulations on the last 50 years. I'd give it 7 stars if I could.
