The bedding I had to pay extra for had blood stains, as did the bedding, and the bathrooms shared between two rooms felt unsafe. Some clothes had been left in a cupboard, and the other guests didn't seem like travelers, which made the place feel very unfriendly. We had no bike racks, only the rear courtyard, so we locked our bikes to the stair banister. The power outlets were too weak to charge our phones, never mind power banks, even over 10 hours. There was blood on the bedding, extra charges, and this was the worst hostel experience I've had. Read the other reviews and avoid it. We had already paid for the hostel, and Booking.com didn't mention a bedding sheet charge, nor did the confirmation email. The receptionist said it should have been in the email, made us pay anyway, and said we couldn't use our own bedding. One friend challenged the fee and was told to call a manager, who had no sympathy. After we'd walked away, the receptionist came out and shouted an aggressive two-minute monologue in German, apparently thinking we wouldn't understand. They said the fee was small and we'd have to pay much more across the border in Denmark, which wasn't true. We had no other option, so we stayed.

For the one night I stayed, the helpful, friendly staff made things easy and convenient. It is what it says it is, a hostel, but the simple room wasn't very clean. There were drawings and dirt on the walls, bugs in the ceiling lamp, and a strong cigarette smell.

At least it was quiet despite being near the road. But the room was seriously dirty, and my socks got grimy after just ten minutes of walking around. They charged for everything, including towels, bed linen, and Wi-Fi. I hope this helps you avoid the hostel. Did I really spend my money on this?

A nice inner garden with a terrace, and the rooms are clean and pleasant. The bathrooms and toilets are roomy, though shared with one other room. It's a good, inexpensive place to spend the night on a journey. The main entrance stays locked, so you have to ring to get in and get a room.

The room itself was OK, but the kitchen was dirty and poorly equipped, contrary to what the website said and consistent with the other reviews. When we brought it up, the manager was rude and dismissive. Many guests seemed to be staying cheaply for work, which really undermined the backpacker image they were trying to present. Avoid this hostel if you can. If this review helps you steer clear, it'll be worth writing.
