Tasty food and a fantastic view. The staff could have been a little friendlier, though I’m giving them some leeway because of Corona.

The restaurant was packed, but the service was still very attentive. We had the cordon bleu and rump steak, and both were very good.

A very friendly, down-to-earth young woman served us out on the terrace. Thank you. The country inn has an 80s feel, with fair prices and decent quality.

On March 27, 2025, I visited this 200-year-old country inn in a village of 1,000 people. It’s the only restaurant in this district, incorporated into Forbach in 1974. The owner was behind the counter when I came in, noticed me, and asked what I wanted. I said I’d like to eat and asked whether there was a table. He seated me and brought the menu, telling me the fish had sold out. The cover looked new and clean, but the table had crumbs from the previous guest. The innkeeper should have noticed and wiped it before seating someone new. I ordered a 0.25l glass of sweet Scheurebe white wine from Rheinhessen for €5.00, the soup of the day, which the chef identified as "Flädlesuppe," for €5.20, sausage salad with bread for €10.90, and a 0.2cl Ramazzotti at 30% for €3.20. The Flädlesuppe was good, and the sausage salad with bread came with an unripe tomato, cucumber, and a little white cabbage and carrot salad. The value for money seemed good to me. Service could be better: the host wished everyone a good appetite when bringing the food, but didn’t ask whether I’d enjoyed it when clearing away. The inn is rustically furnished, with no modern touches, and its age shows. You can eat here, and that’s the main thing, but given Langenbrand’s current unique position for dining, the innkeeper can do as he pleases. Service and ambience are part of the experience too, and the dirty tablecloth was a letdown.
