We went to the restaurant on Whit Monday, hoping to take a short break during our hike. Instead, we spent two hours waiting. It took an hour and two reminders just to get our drinks, and several people around us gave up and left before their orders arrived. The service was completely unacceptable, and nobody even apologized. The food was okay, but by then we were already in a bad mood. The prices were crazy on top of all that.

After our long hike, we stopped by the "Rote Lache" again today, following several years of renovation. We only wanted a drink, and that was no problem at all. We were welcomed and served warmly. The weather was poor, but sitting at the big regulars’ table instead of the tables with white cloths made for a really pleasant visit. The menu looked refined, with plenty of choice at reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be back, and wish the whole team continued success!

The view over the Black Forest is something special, and the food is fantastic quality. The staff are friendly, courteous, and helpful, always checking in and willing to handle requests. It’s a great spot for a day trip, or if you need room for more guests or want to celebrate a birthday. If I could give it extra stars, I would. I’ll be back again and again. Thanks to the whole Rote Lache team for making our Father’s Day visit so lovely today 🌹
