Hotel Zur Alten Oder Frankfurt

The rooms are good quality and the bed was nice, but the curtains leave huge gaps on both sides, so the room doesn’t get dark. There wasn’t an electric kettle for making tea either. Breakfast was fine, though €16 is too much for what you get, and there were problems paying by card. A medium experience overall.

The accommodation itself was very good quality, but I won’t recommend the hotel because of what happened to me. I arrived before check-in, after 12am, not before 11am as the owner wrote. I didn’t demand an early check-in, I only asked about it. I also asked whether I could leave my luggage at the hotel without checking in early, and the owner left out that second question in their response. One of the employees asked if I could help clean dishes. I was so shocked by how inappropriate it was that I agreed at first. Later, I realized he may have assumed that, because I’m from Poland, I must be a blue-collar worker. He seemed really surprised when I said I’d never worked in gastronomy and that I’m an academic. It’s a pity people still use these kinds of stereotypes.

The restaurant isn’t currently open, so only breakfast is available on-site. The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were extremely hospitable, spoke English, and were very helpful in the small town. Our room was a nice size and very clean. The hotel is right by a tram stop and within walking distance of central Frankfurt (Oder). We plan to visit again.

We had car trouble on the way home from Poland to the Netherlands and ended up at this hotel. The room for three was amazing, the staff were really helpful and friendly, and everything was clean, from the room and toilet to the hotel itself. Breakfast was nice too. Nothing bad to point out. Thanks for having us 🙏
